September 10 – October 20, 2019
For years B Street audiences have come to know Jack Gallagher through his delightful and funny one man shows. In those plays Jack has covered all aspects of his life except the one for which he is best known: his experiences as a stand up comic. And after 40 years as a professional comedian, working with many of the biggest names in the business, Jack has some stories to tell!

November 20 – December 29, 2019
When Kelly and Kelli finally decide to tell Sebastian that Santa isn’t real, it creates a whirlwind of doubt, funnels of fury and gales of laughter. Belief, as we know it, may never be the same.

January 14 – February 23, 2020
The quaint little town of Popcorn Falls is reeling when a corrupt politician threatens to turn the village into a sewage treatment plant. Options close and hopes are lost until the arrival of an Arts Council check brings a glimmer of hope. To save the town, the people of Popcorn Falls must put on a play! Two actors play over twenty roles in this feel good hilarious romp.

March 3- April 12, 2020
By the author of B Street’s smash hit, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Byhalia follows the struggles of Jim and Laurel as they cope with unemployment, parental interference and the impending birth of their first child. But when the arrival of that child turns their world upside down, Jim and Laurel ask if they can ever find their way back to each other. This southern fried merry-go-round will have audiences rooting for our heroes while wiping away tears of laughter.

April 21 – May 31, 2020
Straight White Men, the celebrated and lauded comedy from Young Jean Lee, is a searing examination of privilege and family dynamics. It’s Christmastime and the Norton brothers have assembled at their childhood home to celebrate with their widowed father. Now in their 40’s, it doesn’t take long for the brothers to slip back into old rhythms. Gleeful fraternal hazing peels away the frustrations of who they were raised to be and who they’ve become. With sympathy, gut busting humor and razor sharp insight, Young Jean Lee has created a perfect snapshot of America.

June 9 – July 19, 2020
Imagine a married couple living under the yoke of contemporary totalitarianism. Eggs are not allowed in the supermarket, the word “effervescent” has been outlawed, and kite flying has become a capital offense. And when a mysterious tapping emanates from the wall of the couple’s apartment, their paranoid apprehensions are quickly and comedically realized.

July 28 – September 6, 2020
This unhinged romp tells the story of nobleman Bernard who, suspecting his wife of infidelity, strands her on an island to die. But with the help of her steadfast servant she escapes and returns three years later, disguised as a nobleman, to gain her revenge. This thrilling production, featuring commedia dell’arte gymnastics and devilishly funny shenanigans will leave the audience in stitches.

September 15 – October 25, 2020
B Street turns its focus on the tumultuous and ever shifting political landscape at nationally and here in Sacramento! With sketch and music, this original variety show will leave no scandal unturned and no leader un-lampooned! From the minds that brought you House on Haunted Hill, Thrils on The Hill is the show that promises to find the funny in the ridiculousness of modern life.

November 17 – December 27, 2020
Love, a doting father, a mysterious stranger and a little bit of magic. Cricket on the Hearth weaves a touching and humorous quilt of holiday cheer to keep us warm for the winter!

January – February, 2021
Charade, the classic romantic whodunit that starred Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, is adapted for the stage in this whirlwind production spanning the globe. Brought to life by only 5 actors, recent widow Regina “Reggie” Lampert is drawn into a cat and mouse tale of hidden identities and government subterfuge, aided by the handsome stranger Peter Joshua. But is that his real name? Is anything what she thinks it is? This genre blending mash up will have you guessing until the end!


Sundays at 2:00 pm, Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, Wednesdays at 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm, Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

THE SWORD IN THE STONE adapted by Dana Brooke

October – November, 2019
The Arthurian legends begin here. Before he was King Arthur, ruler of the Britons and head of the infamous Round Table, Arthur was a young boy, destined for greatness. This adaptation explores the thrilling adventures that made the boy into a man of legend and the powerful sword that only the rightful King could pull from the stone.

The Wizard of Oz adapted by Lyndsay Burch

November – December, 2019
Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas finds herself in the magical world of Oz in this adaptation of the classic story we all know and love. The Scarecrow, The Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion all help Dorothy in her quest to meet the Wizard and find her way home, but The Wicked Witch of the West will do everything in her considerable power to stop her. The B Street Theatre’s lauded acting company takes on one of the most adored children’s story just in time for the holidays!

Ride Sally Ride by Tara Sissom and Katerina Pruitt

February 4 – February 28, 2020
In this thrilling story, young Sally Ride is visited by her idol, Amelia Earhart. Together, they explore the history of aviation, the breaking of barriers and the role women played in science and exploration.

A Year with Frog and Toad

April 18 – May 3, 2020
Based on the classic stories by Arnold Lobel, A Year with Frog and Toad leaps from the B Street stage! Follow two best friends, the cheerful Frog and the grumpy Toad, as they hop, sing, and dance their way through a year of adventure. As the seasons change from spring to fall, these beloved characters learn lessons about life and the importance of friendship.

As a Core Member of the National New Play Network, B Street remains committed to workshopping and producing new works.
Opene in February 2018, The Sofia is the home to B Street Theatre’s Mainstage and the Sutter Theatre for Children – California’s first year-round, professional theatre for children. In the same spirit of community from which B Street Theatre was born, The Sutter Theatre hosts performances and events of local artists, community organizations, and visiting acts. This landmark facility is an entertainment hub for all of Sacramento, where locals and tourists alike see theatre, comedy, dance and musical acts in an intimate, professional space every night of the year. In addition, its large public lobby, classrooms, open-air courtyard, and on-site restaurant make The Sofia a true destination.
