Guardians of Guitar presents Nili Broshm, Gretchen Menn Trio and Angela Petrilli

Gretchen Menn

Rapidly gaining praise in the world of instrumental rock and beyond, Gretchen Menn isn’t your average guitar hero on the rise. She once flew regional jets to support her six-string habit. She has studied, in equal parts, the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Steve Morse, Frank Zappa, and Jimmy Page. She holds a BA in music from Smith College where she studied classical guitar under the tutelage of Philip de Fremery.

Following the release of her first solo album in 2011, Hale Souls, Gretchen immersed herself in deeper study, not just of guitar, but of composition and orchestration. Her second solo album, Abandon All Hope, is a concept album based on Dante’s Inferno, an almost double album-length work of intensely compositional, instrumental music which blends modern and classical instruments and evokes the epic journey through Dante’s circles of the underworld.

She is also the guitarist and a founding member of Zepparella, the acclaimed Led Zeppelin powerhouse, which tours constantly.

Nili Brosh

Born in Israel, raised in Massachussetts, and educated at Berklee College of Music, virtuoso guitarist and instrumental solo artist Nili Brosh recently spent the better part of two years performing 10 shows a week in Las Vegas in the long-running Cirque du Soleil production, Michael Jackson ONE. Her character was officially dubbed “The Muse,” and many MJ fans would recognize the original lineage of a shredding female lead guitarist on a Michael Jackson stage: Jennifer Batten. But she was established long before that in her own right as a solo artist (two solo albums) and side woman (standing alongside Tony MacAlpine). Her third solo album, Spectrum, is slated for a release.
