An unhinged romp, adapted by John Strand from Montfleury’s 17th century poetry to 20th century verse tells the story of Bernard, a nobleman who suspects his wife Julie of infidelity and strands her on an island to die. But with the help of her steadfast servant, she escapes and returns three years later, disguised as a nobleman who quickly becomes a judge. Her first order of business is to try Bernard, now pursuing a new spouse, for the murder of his wife! This thrilling production, featuring commedia dell’arte gymnastics and devilishly funny shenanigans will leave the audience in stitches.
