True to the B Street legacy, our new facility will be more than a typical theatre. Located at 27th Street and Capital Avenue, the B Street Performing Arts Complex will be the cultural cornerstone of the Midtown neighborhood’s revitalization.

The Design
  • A 40,000 square foot complex to house two theatres with a total of 615 seats, lobby coffee bar, stylish courtyard, restaurant, classrooms, and theatre company space owned by B Street.
  • Forty feet tall at its highest point.
  • Over 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail facing Capitol Avenue.
  • The technical capabilities to create seemingly magical entrances of actors and props.
The Proscenium Theatre (Sutter Children’s Theatre) will…
  • Have 365 seats (current capacity is 112 seats). This will be three times the present size while keeping kids and patrons close to the stage. B Street will be able to bring art education to an additional 30,000 more children a year that we presently cannot accommodate. The space will also be used for concerts, conferences, speaking engagements, and other community events.
  • Have the trademark B Street intimacy with exceptional sight lines from any seat.
  • Allow for more subscriptions, which are at capacity now.
  • Accommodate more than 300 Family Series performances each year, which will be attended by as many as 70,000 children.
  • Feature wing and trap space to create seemingly magical entrances of actors and props.
The Thrust Theatre will…
  • Have 250 seats (current capacity is 200 seats) – only 50 more than the current theatre – by adding one more row.
  • Productions will continue to produce the highest quality of theatre but with more comfortable seating, clearer sound, crisper lighting, and the ability to astound patrons with special effects.
  • Have the trademark B Street intimacy with exceptional sight lines from any seat.
  • Have an extended upper stage area for staging flexibility.
  • Allow for more subscriptions, which are nearing capacity.

NEW FACILITY FEE: For all B Street Theatre shows as of May 1, 2016, a $3 fee will be added to the price of single tickets. This fee will help finance the construction of our new, two-theatre facility at 27th and Capitol Avenue. Thank you for helping to make this dream a reality! This fee will raise to $4 in 2017, and $5 in 2018.

Because B Street does not sell tickets through a third party (such as or TicketMaster), this is the only fee you will see on single tickets, making B Street one of the best values for professional entertainment in Sacramento.

If you have questions or concerns about the project, want more information about the building or construction, or for media inquiries about the new B Street Performing Arts Complex or the capital campaign please contact the Capital Campaign Associate, Garrett McCord, at or by phone at 916.443.5391, ext.113.
