Through the generosity and support of so many, The Sofia, Home of B Street has become an artistic cornerstone of the Sacramento community. We are committed to creating a space where organizations and members of our vibrant community can express themselves and showcase their important work. In recognition of Black History Month, the Arts Committee for Eta Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc,, invites you to celebrate our rich cultural heritage through “BLACKHERHISTORIES: In the Midst of it All”. This Showcase will highlight the Black Arts Movement, and include a 90th birthday tribute to legendary musical artist Sam Cooke, featuring Nic Jackson. And in her memory, homage will be paid to Ms. Cicely Tyson a cultural icon and an influential Screen and Broadway actress who was unapologetically Black and shattered negative stereo types and demeaning portrayals of Black women. A few posterity of the Black Arts Movement will also be high-lighted.
