Henry Robinett

Coming to The Sofia, January 17, Henry Robinett is an award-winning artist, jazz guitarist and composer from Sacramento, California. He is the recipient of many national and local awards, and his last three releases all reached the top 20 on the JazzWeek radio charts nationwide. His original compositions are both accessible and interesting in a fusion of prominent melodies and straight-ahead sensibilities. Jazz is in his genes as the late, great Charles Mingus was his second cousin. He studied with Mingus and met the likes of Joni Mitchell, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Ornette Coleman and Dexter Gordon who inspired him at a young age.

This special concert goes beyond his regular 5-piece band by adding additional musicians and singers to create an exciting debut of several original compositions and improved listener favorites. His band comprises the “who’s who” or Sacramento great artists including Joe Gilman, Jacam Manricks, Ben Kopf, and Cameron Womack joined by Sacramento favorites Shelley Burns, Julian Cunningham, Aaron Garner and Sacramento legend Brent Bourgeois.
