East Meets West: Blending Cultures Through Greek Music

Greece, since the ancient times, has been the crossroads of two worlds, two civilizations. This characteristic has created a canvas full of contradictions that compose a rich cultural landscape.

This dynamic is very well depicted within Greek Music. Melodies and harmonies from Western Music blend with the patterns, rhythms and structures of the Music of the East. Bouzouki, the most popular Greek instrument, is a hybrid of the eastern stringed instruments, such as the saz, and the western classical instruments, such as the mandolin.

Orestis Koletsos Greek Ensemble, returning to the B Street Theatre after two years, will navigate the audience through the magic of Greek songs and compositions of the last century. Led by Orestis Koletsos, a virtuoso of the bouzouki, the ensemble features accomplished musicians who bring their passion for Greek music and culture to every performance.
