2021 Spring Studio For Young Actors

Our Studio For Young Actors provides students a fun, exciting, and creative environment with professional instructors active in the fields of theatre, improvisation, and acting. We’ve learned a lot since shelter-in-place went into effect in March, having hosted & observed numerous Zoom classes and webinars since then. We have embraced the challenge and are looking forward to providing an exciting & engaging experience for students, teachers, and families alike. Come and join the fun!

Acting & Scene Study with Alissa Doyle & Guests! Wednesdays April 14 -June 2 4:00pm – 5:15pm

Virtual Camp Class Descriptions

Juniors Theatre Games & Performance: Our Spring session will feature more theatre games & activities guaranteed to engage and entertain! Special “Guest Artists” will add to the mix as we continue to learn new performance skills!

Youth Acting & Scene Study: Young actors study acting, movement, and character development. Our Spring session will feature guest artists, adding theatre games & improvisation to the mix!

Teens Acting & Scene Study: Teen actors hone their performance and character development skills, while learning the basics of how to confidently present a scene. Our Spring session will feature a deeper dive into script analysis.

Our Teaching Staff

Greg Alexander– Director of Education, B Street Acting Company Member, most recently appeared as Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz for the Family Series.

Stephanie Altholz– B Street Acting Company Member, part of B Street’s Maximum Occupancy improv team, most recently appeared in Charlotte’s Web for the Family Series.

Jerald Bolden– Elly Award winning director and choreographer, performer at Sacramento Theatre Company, Sierra Repertory Theatre, dancer in the national and international tours of Sesame Street Live, Master of Arts in Theater from CSU Sacramento.

Alissa Doyle– B Street staff teaching artist, Saturday Studio for Young Actor Teens & Adult Conservatory teacher, appeared in two B Street School Tours and New Comedies Festival(2018-2019).

Taylor Fleer– B Street staff teaching artist, Saturday Studio for Young Actor Teens teacher, most recently seen onstage in The Sword in the Stone, and Ride Sally Ride! for the Family Series.

Julianna Hess– B Street staff teaching artist, Saturday Studio for Young Actors Juniors & Youth teacher, teaching team member with Marin Shakespeare.

Vernon F. Lewis– B Street staff teaching artist, assisting with in-school curriculum development for HealthyHeARTS & Minds program and PSA classes at Encina Prep, local actor for 15+ years.

Imani Mitchell– B Street staff teaching artist, founder of I AM Studios, a film company dedicated to creating diverse, unique and compelling stories.

Jacob Gutierrez Montoya– Founder & Artistic Director of Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre, Artistic Director for the Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company, most recently choreographed The Wizard of Oz for the Family Series.

Dave Pierini– Acting Company Member, improvisational actor in Maximum Occupancy, and most recently appeared as the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz for the Family Series.

Peter Story—Acting Company Member, B Street staff teaching artist, regular performer in B Street’s weekly Virtual programming, most recently appeared in Byhalia, Mississippi on the Main Stage.

Malik X. Williams—Visual & Media Arts Educator, Video Content Creator & Co-host of “The Gauntlet of Gaming” YouTube Channel, proud alumni of Sheldon High School’s K9 Animation Studios.

What technology does my child need to participate in the virtual classes?

A computer or tablet that has video and audio capability.
A strong Wifi connection.

What will they learn?

Students will be challenged to think and collaborate in the Virtual environment. All will be called upon to be resourceful learners, as together we engage in creative problem-solving. From Acting, to Dance, to Improv, to Video Production, each class will be facilitated by teachers adept at sharing their craft in the Zoom format, as we develop our skills and discover new talents!

Do we need to audition?

Auditions are not required for the classes. All skill levels welcome. We make an effort to pair students appropriately in regards to age and skill level.

What if I need to cancel? Is class registration non-refundable?

There is a $5.00 processing fee for all cancellations. There are NO refunds after classes begin.
