DIASPORA The history of greek music from around the world
From the early 20th century, many Greeks emigrated to destinations worldwide. As a result, many artists, primarily musicians, brought their music to their new homes. A few years later, great Greek musicians, such as Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis, emigrated to Western Europe and the US, gaining global acknowledgment. Several of these Greek composers and musicians have received multiple Academy Awards and composed, which is wildly considered the best movie soundtrack of all time, Chariots of Fire.
Arriving from Greece for this performance, the highly acclaimed Orestis Koletsos Greek Ensemble will highlight the most important treasures of this musical dialogue.
