Let’s Hear It for the Boys! A Choral Tribute to Boy Bands

The Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus is excited to present Let's Hear It for the Boys! — A Choral Tribute to Boy Bands, under the direction of Artistic Director Alex Heetland. Let's Hear It for the Boys! is a musical romp through boy bands from the past and present, featuring music from several eras. You’ll enjoy SGMC’s take on songs from The Drifters and Jackson 5 through the boy band heyday of the 2000s with the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC to more recent hits by One Direction and the K-Pop band BTS. You can look forward to dynamic singing and dancing that will leave you saying, “I want it that way.” “The award-winning song 'I’m Just Ken' is the capstone of a set of songs that explore identity and what it means to be your whole self in a world where we’re often asked to define ourselves by how others perceive us,” explains Alex Heetland. “And we’ll also perform songs of longing for love, promising love, and leaving love behind. Or, saying 'Bye Bye Bye' to love.” He adds with a smile. As with all SGMC shows, you can expect a variety of moving and thought-provoking moments, excellent musical quality, and just enough camp to keep you smiling long after you exit the theatre.
