IN A NUTSHELL: Storytelling Series

Every month, In a Nutshell invites four experienced storytellers from all walks of life to tell a true story LIVE based on intriguing, off-the-beaten-path theme prompts designed to challenge the storytellers to dig deeper and engage audiences with their heads, hearts, and everything in between. At In a Nutshell, audiences can count on a riveting evening of storytelling from experienced storytellers with a diversity of lives-lived.

JULY 25TH: "THE SOUNDTRACK"
FEATURED STORYTELLERS:

Natasha Muse is a stand-up comedian and humorous writer who moved to San Francisco last century and hasn’t been pushed out of the City (yet). She likes puns, wordplay, and portmanteaus, and enjoys weaving them into jokes and comical bits about being trans, being a mom, and being alone with her thoughts. Some audiences don’t know what to make of her, so it’s a good thing she’s a self-made lady. When she’s not making scores of people laugh on stage, she’s plugging away at her blog. Natasha’s comedy is so good it’s not even funny.

Shanti Charan -is a stand-up comedian, writer, and storyteller based in the Bay Area. As the daughter of Indo-Fijian immigrants, her sharp humor and heartfelt storytelling reflect her experiences growing up as a second-generation American. Her comedy has earned her recognition from the San Francisco Bay Guardian as “Best Comedian” and from SF Weekly as “Best Stand-Up on the Way Up,” which praised her work as “clever and confident beyond her years.” She’s performed alongside talent like Fortune Feimster, Sheng Wang, Atsuko Okatsuka, and Hasan Minhaj.

Diane Amos is a San Francisco-based actress, improv artist, and comedian who is known as The Pine-Sol Lady for having starred in their national commercials for over 20 years: she is still their spokesperson for almost 30 years. She has appeared in numerous films including Nine Months, Copycat, Angels in the Outfield, EDTV, Twisted, and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. She was raised in San Francisco by two lesbian mothers and attended Washington High School in the Richmond District, where took an improvisational comedy class... and the rest is history.

Mark Houghtonis a humorist, human rights activist, content creator, self-proclaimed trophy-spouse, and award-winning storyteller.

In a Nutshell is hosted and curated by storytelling comedian Keith Lowell Jensen, book editor Amy Bee, and author Aaron Carnes, three friends who want nothing more than to give humans laughter, insight, and the full spectrum of emotion from the absolute best live storytellers in the universe — that’s all. Come and get what you need, human! You deserve to connect, reflect, and celebrate the power of live storytelling. You are welcome here!
