New Play Brunch – MY FRIEND, RASPUTIN’S HEAD

By d.s.Levy

Join us for brunch, bottomless mimosas and a brand new play reading! The event will run from 11AM-1PM.

Geri and Alex are stuck in a perfectly fine relationship. They each have perfectly fine lives and perfectly fine jobs that are almost bordering on perfectly fine careers. Life is...fine. Until, that is, they find a large Amazon box on their dining table containing the living, disembodied head of the infamous Grigori Rasputin, Russian sorcerer and manipulative lech. Who better to give Geri and Alex relationship advice? MY FRIEND, RASPUTIN'S HEAD explores the idea that sometimes people are better apart than they are together and that chasing greatness has consequences.

d.s.Levy is a Southern California native who has moved throughout the area nearly two dozen times and currently resides in Redondo Beach. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cal Poly Pomona and has taught middle school for the last twenty years. Originally a full-time English teacher, he was asked to write his first play by the school’s drama teacher a couple years into his career. The first time he heard an audience react to his play, his fate was sealed. He has written nearly thirty plays and stopped teaching English in favor of becoming a full-time drama teacher and director. He has also directed in and out of the school setting. Some of his directing credits include PROMETHEUS BOUND; ANTIGONE; a rogue production of THE BREAKFAST CLUB; and BANG, BANG, YOU'RE DEAD. In August 2024, he was accepted into the M.F.A. Theatre Arts program at University of Idaho as a playwright. He uses “d.s.Levy” as his pen name as an homage to those who inspired him as a writer such as S. E. Hinton, C. S. Lewis, and H. G. Wells, and uses lower-case letters out of respect to those literary giants.
